She has won many awards in her long career including\nthe inaugural UCD Alumni Award in Science in 2014 in recognition of her work in\npromoting the public understanding of science and, most recently, the European\nBroadcast Award (2018) for her contribution to meteorology.</p>\n<p>In this talk, Evelyn will address the varying climate of Ireland through the\nages and will review weather forecasting practices up to the present high spec\nnumerical models which provide us with very accurate forecasts up to a week\nahead.
