Dr Alex Whelan, Trinity College Dublin

Dr Alex Whelan is an eminent immunologist. He is a senior lecturer in TCD and is Adjunct Associate Professor at Dartmouth University, NH, USA. He is also Chief Medical Scientist at St James's Hospital Dublin and has published extensively including two text books on immunology and more than eighty papers in peer reviewed journals. He received the ISI 2003 award for outstanding contribution to immunology. Dr Whelan will explore the wonders of the immune system and will address issues such as how the immune system works, how it is affected by stress, whether we can boost its function and if it is possible to think ourselves well.
