Evelyn Cusack, Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann

We are delighted to welcome back Evelyn Cusack, Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann.

Evelyn is a graduate of UCD with a primary degree in Physics and Maths and a Masters degree in Physics. She has won many awards in her long career including the inaugural UCD Alumni Award in Science in 2014 in recognition of her work in promoting the public understanding of science and, most recently, the European Broadcast Award (2018) for her contribution to meteorology.

In this talk, Evelyn will address the varying climate of Ireland through the ages and will review weather forecasting practices up to the present high spec numerical models which provide us with very accurate forecasts up to a week ahead. She will also address the current status of global warming and its potential impact on Ireland's climate  into the future.
